Mr. J P Singh - a graduate from UDCT, Chandigarh, joined L&T in June '03 as Chief Executive (Electronics Sector II), with responsibility for Control & Automation (C&A), and Petrol Dispensing Systems & Solutions Businesses.

Prior to L&T, he was Managing Director of Yokogawa Bluestar Limited (now Yokogawa India Ltd) for a 5 year period from 1998. In the period 1981 - 1998, Mr. Singh was with Rosemount (India) Limited - now Emerson Process Management in various positions - culminating with the position of Vice President & General Manager, which he assumed in 1992.

Prior to 1981 he served with the Reactor Engineering Division of BARC - where he commenced his career joining the 16th batch of BARC training school in 1973

Mr. Ravi Uppal

Vice Chairman, Managing Director & Country Manager, ABB India, President, South Asia-Pacific Region

Ravi Uppal (53) has spent over 20 years with the ABB Group and is presently Vice Chairman, Managing Director & Country Manager of ABB in India. He is also responsible for the South Asia-Pacific Region and is a member of ABB's Group Executive Forum.

Preceding his present portfolio, he established and developed Volvo's operations in India as the founding Managing Director of the company from 1996-2001.

Prior to his stint with Volvo he served with ABB for 16 years. He was a Member of the Country Management Committee of ABB India from 1992-96 and also headed the Industrial & Building Systems and Power Transmission Segments. Before returning to India, Ravi served with ABB in the Middle East from 1987-91 & Sweden from 1980-87.

Ravi was earlier with Siemens AG, West Germany as Plant Sales Manager for Eastern Europe after starting his career in BHEL, India's leading power generation company.

In April 2003 Ravi Uppal was awarded the Royal Order of the Polar Star by His Majesty the King of Sweden and named a knight of this Order, in recognition of invaluable services to Sweden over more than two decades.

Ravi Uppal received his BTech (Elec.) degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in 1973 and immediately thereafter, accomplished his post graduation in Business Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad in 1975.

Ravi Uppal is actively involved with Indian industry & academia, as mentioned below and he also spearheads several social & community development initiatives.
